ARBOBLEND® – the versatile family of materials
ARBOBLEND® represents a versatile family of materials comprising a wide variety of material types and property profiles. All materials are based on up to 100% renewable raw materials and are characterised by a sustainable and application-oriented composition.
The specific formulation of ARBOBLEND® materials combines various biopolymers, including polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), polycaprolactone (PCL), bio-based polyesters such as bio-PET, polylactic acid (PLA), starch, bio-polyolefins (bio-PE) and bio-polyamides (bio-PA). In addition, lignin-based components as well as natural resins, waxes, oils, fatty acids, cellulose, biological additives and natural reinforcing fibres or mineral additives are used. This extensive range of materials enables the materials to be precisely tailored to specific technical and functional requirements.
Depending on the application, ARBOBLEND® materials can be designed to be either biodegradable or durable. Biodegradable variants offer particular added value in applications such as urns, plant pots and mulch films, as they provide an environmentally friendly end-of-life option. Long-lasting ARBOBLEND® materials, on the other hand, are suitable for demanding applications such as household goods, films, tarpaulins, heavy-duty snow chain components, ultra-fine filaments for yarns and textiles, or large-scale façade elements. Long-term stable ARBOBLEND® materials act as permanent carbon sinks, as the biogenic CO₂ remains bound within the material throughout its entire service life.
Thanks to its bespoke development, ARBOBLEND® can optimally meet both environmental and functional requirements, thereby offering a forward-looking, sustainable alternative to conventional plastics.
